It shared many features with the Gibson L-5 archtop: The neck was an L-5 neck in scale, section and detail. Other similar details include: single-cutaway body, ebony fingerboard with abalone block inlays, flowerpot headstock inlay, L-5 tailpiece with contrasting silver on gold (dropped in 1978 for the new TP6 design) and multilayer body binding throughout. They were available between 1973 and 1983 (in the Gibson 1972 catalog).Features: Carved curly maple body, laminated maple neck, gold-plated hardware throughout. “L-5″ engraving, two gold plated pickups with separate volume and tone, three-way selector switch. Width at nut 1 11/16″, scale 24 3/4”.Most were 3-piece bodies. This example is a rather rare 2-piece version. Note the matching solid figured maple electronics cover on the back.
