Description

Gretsch 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman 1967Born of the collaboration between guitarist Chet Atkins and Gretsch (self-proclaimed) designer Jimmy Webster, this was the evolution of the late 1950s 6120 Country Gentleman – Double cut-a-way, painted ‘F’ holes and the ‘belt’ pad on the back of the body. The closed ‘F’ holes helped eliminate feedback problems at higher amplified volumes. This is similar to George Harrison’s 1962 brown Gretsch 6122 that he used on the Ed Sullivan show on the Beatles 1st American tour (debut) in 1964.
